GRIEF (c) 2024, Tapestry, Scripture, 13″w x 26″h
This theme of Grief was selected specifically for the Roxbury Arts Group’s Call for Art for “Forgotten Spaces”. The human figure is loosely sketched in in purple dyed wool, almost disappearing into the dark grey background. Grief so easily renders the grief stricken intensely lonely and wrapped up into one’s self. Outsiders can be ill prepared and without skill to comfort the griever; they may feel incredibly awkward and too intimate an emotion, thus reducing the griever to the point of invisibility.
One viewer commented upon receiving the Vimeo video link: “Thank you for sending this on to me, Tabitha. A beautiful showing of how diverse our understanding of forgotten space actually is. It is a real pleasure to hear from each artists, and learn from their experience. A very thought provoking exhibit”
