HOPE, (c) 2017, Tapestry, Scripture, 25″w x 13″h

This tapestry was woven just before I started the American Tapestry Alliance’s Mentor/Mentee program in 2017-2018.

I stand on HOPE….not because of what I do or did, not because I am some marvelous Christian, but because of what Jesus has done for me.  He is my HOPE.  He is the answer to my most important question of WHY.

I am a weaver who is called to show and witness to God’s promises found in the Bible.  I have been blessed by several individuals whose teachings and writings deepen my understanding of the Bible and my hunger for a personal relationship with the triune God.  This tapestry “HOPE” is part of a thematic production, in which key words from Scripture connect the Jewish Feasts with the liturgical calendar by colors and symbols, and can guide a believer’s experience and fellowship with a triune God.

HOPE in the liturgical year represents the Lenten season, as Jesus’s 40 days in the desert, and of Passion Week of the Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread, which lead to and end with Jesus’s crucifixion.

HOPE points to His gift of redemption as seen with His resurrection on Easter.

White:  hand spun merino wool, with gold thread represents the Passover Lamb of God, which foreshadows in the Jewish Calendar of Feasts of prophetic writings, Jesus’s regal title and ministry;

Violet:  dyed hand spun Shetland wool represents one’s repentance for one’s sins, and the Royal Purple worn by rulers and kings;

Thorn Branches:  the painful mockery of Jesus’s kingship by the Roman soldiers and Jewish leaders, and reminder of the cost of His passion and crucifixion.
